Calm Your Mind, Move Your Body, Find Yourself
Throughout my career I have studied human resiliency and our capacity to navigate hardships, uncertainty, and setbacks. I am fascinated and inspired by our ability to manage distressing experiences, such as chronic pain, by exploring the relationships that we have with ourselves, others, and the world. I have learned that if we are able to better understand our pain, psychological make-up, and the role that suffering plays in our lives, we have a better chance of improving our moment-to-moment experience, optimizing our mental health, and changing our relationship to pain.
I will help you explore different ways of relating to your pain and suffering while encouraging you to recognize that you are much more than these overwhelming aspects of your current experience. I offer hope, optimism and a fresh perspective on your persistent pain and mental health concerns.
Counselling with me, whether for chronic pain specifically, the myriad of mental health concerns connected to pain, or for your general mental health, is all about:
-
Connecting comfortably and confidently to the counselling process and relationship.
-
Collaborating to construct personally meaningful goals for therapy.
-
Opening up to new ways of understanding and interacting with pain, distress, ourselves, and others.
-
Working to understand and then break the patterns of thinking, behaving, and feeling that may be keeping you stuck.
-
Gaining confidence and flexibility in the way that you approach your pain and mental health.
-
Moving forward with a life that is guided by your goals and values and not your pain.
